Replacement idler. These VCRs use a fairly stable idler. If the idler in your VCR has failed we do offer a new replacement idler. Early signs of a slipping idler will be about the same as a bad belt. The most common problem with these Goldstar manufactured VCRs is with the cam gear. When the cam gear cracks or breaks the VCR will fail to load the tape. The mode switch should be replaced or at least cleaned when the cam gear is replaced. The mode switch, see MBK-11-MSW, is normally the cause of a broken cam gear in these VCRs. These Goldstar VCRs have a common problem with the mode switch failing. When the mode switch fails it allows the loading motor to continue to run after it should have stopped. This will break the main cam gear causing the problem described at MBK-11-CG above. The mode switch should be replaced or at least cleaned whenever the cam gear, MBK-11-CG, is replaced.
