We have several kits for these VCRs, manufactured by Hitachi. MBK-60: Belt Kit Contains all six belts that are used in these VCRs.   The most common symptom of  bad belts is the VCR will be unable to go into the play or record mode - it will load the tape around the video drum, but will shut down before the tape starts to move.   You may also hear a squealing sound at this point as the belts start slipping.   Other symptoms of worn-out belts include mangled tape hanging out of the cassette if either of the capstan belts fail, or the idler drive belt breaks or slips.  Sometimes the VCR will shut down after a few seconds when you first power it up.   You may hear a motor running as the VCR tries to initialize.  Your price for our MBK-60 kit is $7.00. MBK-60P: Complete Rubber Kit This kit is a complete rubber replacement kit for for the ones that use a Geared Idler.   It contains all six belts and the pinch roller.   If the pinch roller has never been replaced you really need one.   If the pinch roller has a hard glaze on it or the capstan shaft has a black build up on it the pinch roller has probably been slipping.   Your price for our MBK-60P kit is $12.50 Instructions for installation (PDF) See photos for parts locations. VMK-001 Maintenance Kit (Idler close-up): This kit is a complete rubber replacement kit for for the models that use an idler with a rubber tire.   It contains all six belts, the idler, and the pinch roller.   If the pinch roller has never been replaced you really need one.   If the pinch roller has a hard glaze on it or the capstan shaft has a black build up on it the pinch roller has probably been slipping.  The idler is also a common wear item, and needs to be replaced with the other parts Your price for our VMK-001 kit is $14.95 Instructions for installation (PDF) See photos for parts locations.
