HURRICANE NUTS, #8-32, SET OF 4

Hurricane nuts are similar to T-Nuts, but with improved holding power on smaller screw sizes.  Open at both ends for longer screws.  Easy installation.  H-Nuts work better than T-Nuts in MDF, because the teeth on T-nuts often does not hold in MDF.

Instructions:   To install properly in plywood or MDF, drill a 7/32" hole for plywood, or a 13/64" hole for MDF or other types of fiber or particle board.   Exact hole size is important for these nuts to hold properly!    Tap each nut into the drilled hole from the back side of the board, then attach the item to be held in place and insert an 8-32 thread machine screw and tighten.   Some people put a 1" wide piece of masking tape on the back of the H-Nut to hold it in place, and then make a small hole in the masking tape where the screw will come through.   Once the screw is in place and tightened, the H-Nut will hold the screw securely indefinitely.
